November 30, 2005
Those of us who live in homes on rented land as the majority of
Mobile Home Owners do, have worked long and hard to protect our
rights and establish laws
for that purpose.
Although there are over 25,000 mobile homes in Vermont, a very
small percentage of those home owners are still concerned enough
to participate
in VMHOA, Inc.
It has become increasingly frustrating to those of us who have
continued to
struggle to maintain the viability of this organization.
With continued decreasing paid membership we have decided
to “fold
our tent”,
and quietly file to the back of the room so to speak.
The Board of Directors and current officers will remain
in office indefinitely, enabling us to continue to register as
a non profit organization in the State of
Vermont. We will continue the web site established last year,
and our address will remain the same: 331 Tall Timbers Drive, WRJ, VT 05001. This will enable the organization to become active quickly if it
is needed in future.
Thank you for the support you have shown over the years.
Sincerely
Dorothy A. Hayes
President VMHOA
We (VHMOA) are a Vermont Non-Profit Corporation founded
in 1989.
This organization formed for the explicit purpose of informing
mobile home park (MHP) residents and mobile home owners of their
rights and responsibilities.
Before VMHOA, there were no laws on the books to protect you.
Since being founded in 1989, we have
been instrumental in getting laws passed pertaining to water, sewer,
and other habitability issues, annual mobile lot rent increase limits
to a percentage of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), park closings,
and many other laws to protect the rights of mobile home owners
and MHP residents.
VMHOA right now needs to grow.
Without strong continued member support, our influence diminishes
to change laws and have more laws passed to protect mobile home
owners and MHP residents.
There is strength in numbers. VMHOA has been working
to strengthen the laws pertaining to mobile homes in parks for many
years. No other organization does for you what we do. Help us to
keep on working for you.
Many of you may be afraid to join, for fear of reprisals. Many
might be apathetic… let someone else do it. If you want results,
the results will come a little quicker when more people get involved.
Join today if you don’t already belong. All it takes is $7.50
a year per household to belong and be kept informed of your rights
and responsibilities.
The officers and Directors of VMHOA are unpaid workers, who do
what we do because we care about our own homes, and YOURS.
